Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone)
Sole Source Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
As a SBA-certified HUBZone business, Fathom Consulting Group is eligible for sole-source awards under the FAR. Sole-source contracts are a kind of contract that can be issued without a competitive bidding process.
A sole-source HUBZone contract can be awarded if the contracting officer doesn’t have a reasonable expectation that two or more qualified HUBZone small businesses will submit offers, determines that the qualified HUBZone small business is responsible, and determines that the contract can be awarded at a fair price. The government estimate cannot exceed $7 million for manufacturing requirements or $4.5 million for all other requirements.
Agencies can benefit from numerous procurement advantages from the HUBZone sole-source, including simplified procurement with quicker decision-making and decreased administrative costs. The agency can bargain with the contractor directly to get the greatest deal, and awards can be issued in a matter of days.
